Update: Thanks to Jennifer C., a reader who pointed out that I had an error in my recipe regarding the amount of heavy cream. I had listed the amount as 2 cups (1 quart) of heavy cream, when in fact it should have been 2 cups (1 pint). I rely on you guys to make sure my recipes work! Thanks so much!
It’s a big day here at Gravy Central. I have finally, finally gotten the original recipe from Hall’s Chophouse for their famous pepper jack creamed corn!
This looks so amazing! Creamed corn is one of my favorite side dishes, and I imagine the pepper jack cheese sauce only makes it even more delicious.
I cannot thank you enough for this gem!! My husband and I were just in Charleston for my birthday and this by far was the best thing we had and that is saying a lot because every single meal we had in Charleston was amazing from Poogan’s Porch’s deep fried pimento cheese balls to Magnolia’s southern egg rolls … Hall’s pepper jack cream corn is a gem and I cannot wait to try this!! THANK YOU!!
So glad you found my recipe! Let me know how it goes for you!
I had a sudden craving for this even though it’s probably been 4 years since I last ate it. The closest location is 2+ hours from me, so I thought let’s see if there’s a copy cat recipe out there somewhere. What I found was even BETTER! Thank you this absolutely made my day!!
That’s great, Jennifer! I’m so glad you liked it.
At the top of this page you mentioned heavy cream correction to volume, but there is no heavy cream in the recipe. I am assuming the recipient calls for half and half not heavy cream?

This recipe has become my signature dish—people ask me to bring it everywhere, including my mother in law for thanksgiving! I follow it exactly as written except I use frozen corn kernels to save time. Thanks so much!
Love hearing this! Thanks for letting me know!
Any help/instructions if you need to use frozen corn rather than fresh in the husk corn? Thank you so much for working to get this and publishing it. Had my first Hall’s experience in April and I could not get enough of this dish.
Hi Dave – others that have tried this recipe just do a 1-for-1 substitute of frozen corn, and it typically works out fine. Good luck!
This turned out exactly like what we eat at Halls Chophouse in Greenville, THANK YOU for posting !!!
Thanks for reading!
